Vasyl would absolutely wreck shit in MMA, I'd love to see him try it out after a year or so of additional training.

Agreed but also fixed, people always talk about how striking sport fighters can learn enough grappling to dominate MMA in a few months or how strikers already in MMA only need to "improve their TDD" to become nigh immune to grappling while no one says the reverse about grapplers only needing a few months of striking to dominate or being able to improve their standup defense enough to be render striking irrelevant.

    Overrated strikers and striking.

Baars is great, but Cyborg hung in there after being dropped several times early. She made a fight of it, and in my eyes earned more respect for that loss as she has from most most of her wins.

Sure they would. Way to underrate all the other martial arts while proceeding to overrate one in particular.

At HW, it may be possible. Lower weight classes, forget about it.

LOL at pretending that a "world caliber MMA grappler" is something elite

Cody Garbrandt wrestled for 3 years in high school and was 30-0 in amateur boxing and after some training that was enough for him to OUTCLASS his entire division and become UFC champ

Somehow, naive fans like you deny that an ELITE boxer like GGG who said himself wrestled for 7 years in an Eastern European country couldn't become UFC champ

Not only he could, but he would do it rather easily. MMA has a shallow talent pool, there is nothing wrong with that, you just have to acknowledge that true A-level athletes are not in this sport

LOL at pretending that a "world caliber boxer" is something elite. Promising boxers are carefully protected for their first 20+ fights. In 30 fights a boxer might have 5 against anyone worth noting, what a silly system. Boxing is like if every top fighter was Cyborg or Almeida for a full career before fighting each other.

See how easy it is to go the other way?

How many world-beaters did he fight in that 24-0 record? 24 no-names doesn't mean jack shit. Plus, once again, MMA is a different sport. He never had to worry about those 24 guys taking him down. If you think you go into a MMA fight using nothing but your boxing style, you're a fucking idiot. Styles make fights, always have and always will.

Boxing is an Olympic sport and there are several state sponsored programs to weed out bad talent. This makes the talent pool much deeper, there is a natural selection towards elite athletes. It is very common for amateur boxers to have 100 fights before turning pro, in fact Lomachenko was 396-1 in amateur boxing. Just LOL if you think MMA's talent pool is anywhere close to Boxings

And MMA draws from the talent pools of multiple combat sports instead of just one like boxing or any overrated "pure" sport. People come to MMA after already being proven among the best in other sports.

I don't give 2 shits about excuses. True or not no boxer has ever came in and dominated in the ufc. Until that day it happens I'll stick to it and say a ufc caliber fighter where take downs and submissions are aloud will smoke a boxer with "6 months training"

Actually women's boxing "GOAT" (at least one of them) Holly Holm did come into UFC and got beat by high school wrestler Tate and outstruck by Muay Thai fighters.

Yes women's boxing is shallower compared to men's boxing but so is women's MMA compared to men's MMA.

OVERRATED BOXING by people who think dancing around and jabbing is more legit fighting than "gay hugging".

I'm not saying he couldn't become champ. But just like an MMA vet couldn't win a boxing title with 6 months to a year of boxing......you're giving boxers way too much credit. No one at a professional level in any sport reaches the top within a fucking year of training. Naive. GTFO.

Browne was not particularly close to the top of the division and he would have gotten annihilated had he actually had the chance to step up (and not popped twice). The overall talent still isn't high relative to the stronger eras, but there has definitely been a bit of a resurgence over the last few years.

Look at the record tho, he lost to Cormier when he was like 1-0 in boxing, 23 victories and 7 years away to where he is now.

Still, small gloves and the threat of elbows, kicks, takedowns makes mma far more versatile sport in making any individual find his talent in his liked area and be successful at it. It doesn't get bare bones as boxing where you must follow strict rules and fighting styles to have a chance.
