I love this movie. Stalone has never been more likable (even more likable than rocky). For a few years, I was convinced this was a Scorsese movie.

It was a great movie, but in my opinion Rocky I was a masterpiece.

No argument about Rocky. And Stallone's work as a director in recapturing the same look and feel for Rocky 2 is much-underrated.

I did not like it. What town in NJ along the Hudson even looks like that town Stallone is a cop in? None that I know of.

But they did try to feature that region, and had a scene on the GWB, which is my favorite bridge.

Great movie until the very end when they went full retard with the action scene.

When Deniro called Sly a cupcake that was pretty funny.

I liked Brooklyn's Finest but I feel like the material wasn't as original as Cop Land. And Cop Land's cast was superior.

Classic flick. I remember seeing it in the theater, and it really having an impact on the audience. I think people were surprised by the intensity of the film, and the acting chops on ol' Sly.

I kinda feel like Edge of Darkness (2010, Mel Gibson) is a sibling film to this.

Two 80s action stars, now old, playing wash-ups who have to get back in the game one more time, to uncover some corrupt shit. There are even more similarities, but I don't want to give them away because it gets too spoilery. Suffice to say, if anybody liked one, see the other.

Hahah I seen bits and pieces when I was much younger but never duked out the whole movie! But I just had a 90s binge on ransom, face off and boogie nights over the last few days!

It had unfortunate timing. It was the tail end of Stallone's 20 year run as box office gold and after a few bombs. Audiences weren't as high on him anymore and then those who were didn't expect a fat, deaf, unassuming Stallone in a movie called Cop Land. Great premise though and a really good movie. Had it come out a few years earlier then it might be more fondly remembered as a Stallone classic.

One of my all time favorite flicks. One that never gets deleted from my computer.

Love the end shootout when ray liotta show up and starts capping fools all hungover and strung out to help Stallone out.

Interesting. I like Edge of Darkness but have never associated it with Cop Land. It seems to me more akin to movies like Death Wish, Taken or John Wick. Sly's character in Cop Land was more of a "never was" with wasted potential...if that character reminds me of any other in particular it would probably be Robert DeNiro in Mad Dog and Glory or Bruce Willis in Unbreakable.
