That's what I'm hoping for honestly cause like I said I'm really into this subject matter in shows/movies it fascinates me. I think the way you described GiTS anime is perfect and it just doesn't interest me. I've tried getting like 5-8 episodes in and in the end I just don't like it.

    No Kodi for me.

This deserves the full cinema treatment!

Have you tried watching the 1995 film? I started with Stand Alone Complex and couldn't get into it after a dozen episodes but I watched the movie afterwards and loved it.

I also enjoyed Arise, found it much more accessible than SAC. With Stand Alone Complex you can miss just a minute of an episode and be totally lost for multiple episodes lol. Check out this trailer and see if you like it

I can't remember if I watched the movie. If I did I don't remember it anymore. I did plan on checking out Arise just haven't done it yet. I have it loaded and ready on my media center. I'll need to check it out and see if it's any better.

Funny, I liked everything else GITS (even Innocence grew on me) but Arise sort of left me cold. I think it's the jailbait design of the Major that did it.

I've still not seen the original anime, despite having heard about it many times over the years. I'm trying to figure out if I should watch it first before I go see this movie.

I was hoping for an expansion on the story line. The water scene could be awesome if they did it right, they should have got the guys from Hero to do the scene, that cgi looks terrible.

Arise was great. I didn't like the Major or the art in SAC. I'm a big fan of the original movie.

    Really good series.
Starting to realize the recent movies(2 or 3 of them) posted on Starz On Demand include portions of each Season 1 & 2nd GIG episodes with a focus on the main antagonists(Laughing Man and Individual 11)

Solid State Society has a later plot

The new science fiction film(non-anime movie) should be good too.

I'll second the recommendation for the original 1995 film.

Street Fighter II and Ninja Scroll were some of my favorite animes when I was younger. Street Fighter had amazing action choreography with Fei Long vs Ryu, Chun-Li vs Vega, and Ken/Ryu vs M.Bison being the highlights of the movie for me.

Ninja Scroll was just an amazing hyper-violent action flick. Shit was awesome lol

Scarlett is so bad ass. That naked suit is the bomb & she pullz it off perfectly.

Could that be considered her birthday suit?

I thought the manga itself is rather fun. I've chafed under the Oshii inspired glacially-placed pseudo depth. I feel like you can illustrate existential stories with less seriousness..... but maybe you don't want to be glib for those kind of film moments?

They're just so long and repetitive though. At least in comics you can cram giant walls of text into just one panel fill the rest with guns and boobs.

Yeah, I don't want to "blame" Oshii but he does have a certain directorial style that is tailor made to alienate people. Hell, Patlabor is one of my favourite series yet I have never watched Patlabor the Movie 2 all the way through without falling asleep. It's impossible.
