What's crazy is that, I think, there is a two million baht side bet on that fight. Who did they find to bet two million on Kompayak? Someone must have really felt the need to part with two million baht.

How the side bets work is there is a deposit put down by both sides, when the fight and bet is announced, in this case it was 100,000 baht a side, that stays with the promoter until fight night and the rest of the money is put in. The only way the gym would get that back outside of actually winning the fight would be if their boxer died! So if pull out of bet, get sick, whatever the other side keeps the deposit if the fight or bet doesn't happen. They are supposed to bring the rest on the night and its all collected and counted before it gets underway. Kompayak's side only turned up with another 100,000 baht though so with the odds of 3-2 Nongroses team put in 300,000 and there was just 500,000 in the pot in the end. I got to the stadium at 6 pm and Nongrose was already 8-1 odds on favorite, which must be a record for a fight on a card like this.
