Im wondering if anyone knows any good info or personal experiences with fasting, be it intermittent, 8 hours, 24 hours, ect. I didnt even set out to fast, but i work a lot and sometimes dont even remember to eat for like 8 hours and its pretty easy for me, so i figured maybe i can make it regular thing if there are some benefits.

I've read up on a few paleo/primal/bulletproof/etc diets that suggest intermittent fasting. It's a great way to save money and that's about it. I haven't noticed any health benefits. I think whatever calorie deficit I incur, I eventually make up for. I'm sure if I had better discipline I'm sure I'd lose weight though.

    Thats a better way.

    I eat when I'm hungry, don't when I'm not.

    Fastings for the birds.

It's defiantly a healthy primal thing to go through. It doesn't seem normal to eat what we consider 'regularly' because our ancestors and animals go long periods without food. I also read fasting and hunger, releases chemicals in the body that are actually good for you.

I've done a bit of IF over the years.

I really haven't noticed any tangible benefits to my health or waist.

Fasting will humble you and give you more respect for your fellow man.

    I have fasted many times.

Don't fast to lose weight, just diet if that is your goal.

Fasting tells your body you are starving to death, and it better hang on to every drop of fat it can get ahold of.

I started intermittent fasting sorta by accident. Similar situation as you, I was just really busy at work and a lot of the time I didn't end up eating until after 5. Wasn't intentional but I was pretty out of shape at the time and I noticed I was losing some weight so I just kept going and ended up slimming down a lot. I wasn't strict about it but I'd do it 4 or 5 days a week.

I just started again actually. It worked pretty well for me because when you do eat you don't necessarily have to eat a certain diet, which is a hassle for me because I eat out a decent amount. I know some other people though who are like irritating zombies if they don't have lunch so it might not work out for some people

I wouldnt be doing it to lose weight per say im like 6' 180 with minor love handles. I think i read somewhere that it has some actual other benefits like hormonal or intestinal or something but there's a lot of quacky ass people out there. I do kinda feel like i can think better when i do it, plus i just enjoy testing my will power.

shit works. Ive been fasting for. year now you obviously still need to eat in a caloric deficit. The main benefits I've noticed are improved skin and fat loss.. that pretty much it. I tried the same caloric deficit without fasting and didn't achieve nearly as good of results

To my knowledge there's two versions of it. The standard version of IF is eating twice within an 8 hour period, followed by a 16 hour fast each day.

Then there's the Warrior diet, where you eat twice in a 6 hour window and then fast for 18 hours each day.

Some do the first version and then just include one 24 hour fast every week. I think this is the easiest way to follow that pattern.

I've always grown up hearing that breakfast is the most important meal of the day but once i realized that was bullshit i stopped eating breakfast.

Didn't even know what intermittent fasting was and i was unintentionally doing it because I loved sleeping in an extra half hour and not eating in the morning.

It does help me lose weight because i only get two meals per day and can make them pretty big and still be under my calorie allowance.

Sometimes i get lazy and still gain weight though, because i stop exercising, drink a ton of booze, snack all day, and get very little sleep. But I'm convinced if i did all that while also eating breakfast then I'd be even fatter
