Why is that? I offer respect as it is given. You were one of the first to pick a fight with me and I stood my ground.

I've only stood my ground on here. No offense.

8 hours of eating and 16 hours of fasting makes sense to me and it's really helped me control my appetite over the last year. I did try the 6 hour eating and 18 hour fasting, but I just found myself so hungry so often that I wasn't motivated to do much physically. It's funny how only a few hour difference had such a dramatic impact on my mood.

I never go 24 hours of fasting anymore... I understand the idea behind it, but it just doesn't work for me and it makes me want to absolutely gorge myself when it's over. Really throws off my day-to-day rhythm as well.

I do it a month or 2 before a competition. I lose 15 lbs on average.

That's awesome but are you eating a lot less?

I've lost weight while doing it but when I eat the same amount over the entire day my results seem to be about the same. It's just a lot more convenient to wait until a short feeding window to get a few hardy meals in instead of lightly snacking the entire day. I actually really like the IF lifestyle but I just haven't experienced anything profound.

Much less. Like just one meal. Not a cumulative of 3 meals in 1 sitting. But I replaced all my carbs with cabbage and drank a lot of tea & lemon water during the day. I feel great during classes/sparring. Although I need at least 1.5 week to adjust. If I eat lunch & roll at night, I feel sluggish & bloated.

Why would anyone want to starve themselves. Sounds dumb.

I hate feeling weak. Need that meat and beans in my system at all times. My Veggies come from a bunch of Dark Greens in a blender. I tried fasting once and i started looking like an Ethiopian and people though i was sick, my face got all skinny and my legs shrunk.

I don't know if I call it fasting, but I usually eat once or twice a day. I would skip meals simply because I'm not hungry or don't have the time. I heard that it's good to fast for a certain amount of time to have the body eat itself, so when it does, it eats the damaged or old cells first, keeping mostly healthy cells in your body. There was a doctor on the Rogan podcast who said there are studies that show doing so left people with better body composition and even increased muscle mass despite them not working out during the study.

Fasting is bad for your metabolism. You are better off juicing.

Incorrect. There is a huge difference between spiritual people and religious people. You should do some research.

I believe the science is out on IF and from what I have heard it's sub optimal. It's not going to destroy any gains or anything but I believe the general consensus is that having protein in your body through out the day> fasting.

I've wondered about this also, whether it actually has to do with the fasting pattern or just that you end up eating less overall
